Blog Tour: Michael the Incredible Super-Sleuth Sausage Dog – Terrie Chilvers

*I received a free copy of this book, with thanks to the author, Firefly Press and Graeme Williams of Graeme Williams Marketing. The decision to review and my opinions are my own.*

Blurb: Being a su-paw-star isn’t working out quite like Michael had planned. So when Susan the Labrador gets dognapped, Michael jumps at the chance to increase his TV ratings and wow his fans by becoming not just a mind-reading sausage dog, but a detective mastermind as well… oh, and he should probably try and save Susan from her dognappers too.

Yay! We LOVED Michael the Amazing Mind-Reading Sausage Dog and have been keeping an eye out for a sequel, and here it is!

Michael and Stanley Big Dog briefly forsake the world of showbiz for some amateur sleuthing when the annoyingly smug Susan gets dog-napped by a nefarious cheese-loving gang of criminals. Which leads the more bum-scratching, chicken chew eating, waistcoat-wearing antics from the pompous mind-reader and his simple – but highly lovable! – sidekick.

Here’s what Minishine (11) and Babybows (8) had to say about the book:

Minishine: Don’t be silly! Definitely 5 stars! The characters are good and it was sooooo funny. My favourite is Stanley because I like big dogs with floppy ears, and because he’s funny too.

Babybows: Well I like BOTH Michael AND Stanley because Stanley is funny and Michael is silly.

Minishine: I think it’s trying to teach us that people can make mistakes and learn from them and move on. Because Michael keeps ignoring everyone cos he thinks he knows best but then it all goes wrong and he needs help.

As before, this children’s adventure is greatly entertaining (I particularly enjoy doing daft voices for all the different dogs!) and well-written (a highlight was the explanation of why the warehouse smelled of cheese!).

We consider this book/series fun for all ages and declare it yet another family reading-time favourite.
