Blurb: Scavenger hunts are fun.
Drawing is fun.
Put them together for ★ SCAVENGER ART ★
This unique art-based activity book includes 52 scavenger hunts designed to
✓ encourage curious minds
✓ spark creativity
✓ practise mindfulness
✓ develop drawing skills
Perfect for ages 6 to 12.
Mr Shine and the little beams are all keen on a spot of drawing – my forte lies more with words than pictures! – so they were all very excited to receive the latest activity book from the talented Lexi Rees.
The book contains page after page of prompts, for items to find and draw: objects inside and outside; personal possessions; nature; animals; foods; clothing; people; body parts… you name it and this book has a page of drawing prompts for it!
Each prompt page has a corresponding 9 square grid (we chose to partition sheets of paper instead, to keep the book reusable) and the idea is that the child/ren scout around the vicinity, trying to find examples that fit the category theme and then draw them in a square until they’ve filled the grid.
Perfect for party games, days out, long car journeys or rainy day entertainment, you can use this book over and over again – children, teens and adults – to hone your drawing skills or just to have a bit of fun.
Minishine and Mr Shine got quite absorbed in competing for who could draw items of clothing the quickest and whose drawings look the best. Babybows and I are far less competitive (and a little lazy) and so we enjoyed just quietly leafing through the book and chatting about what we could see to fit each category, without the effort of picking up a pencil!
I have reviewed other resource books by Lexi Rees (see The Book Dragon Club and Wicked Writing Skills) and would wholeheartedly recommend any and all of them for entertaining and engaging children with art and literacy skills respectively. A great addition to any home or school resource set!
