Blurb: An assassin wants revenge but doesn’t know who to kill.
A drug dealer wants revenge without the muscle to kill.
a ‘wild beast’ can help them both.
Can anybody stop it?
The last six days in ‘The Weight of Shadows’ were just the beginning.
Danny Benedict and the whole team must get ready — it’s day seven.
The second book in the ‘Shadows Series’.
Every morning you can watch the sunbeams glitter,
certain you no longer need to wait for shadows.
James Bond meets 24 in this explosively fast-paced thriller series from Karl Holton.
The Wait for Shadows is the second in this series, and I would personally recommend reading The Weight of Shadows first (you can find my review here), as this instalment picks up the same characters and some of the trailing plot threads.
Yet again, we have a smorgasbord of crime: drugs, money, bonds, art, forgery, theft, murder, shoot-outs and executions abound as Benedict’s team of experts come up against some old and new faces in their fight against organised crime if all kinds.
There is a particular focus here on vengeance and vendettas; which act as powerful motivating forces, but can also lead a normally cool professional into making rash decisions and risky plans. This adds an element of unpredictability to a plot already bursting with hidden identities, double-agents and backstabbing!
You definitely need to stay alert reading these books, as the crime is high-level and the cross-cutting investigative team work at lightning speed, trying to get ahead of the criminal’s plans as the pieces are gradually revealed.
Anyone who enjoys complex action thrillers, featuring a cast of assassins, mafiosi, spies and rogue investigative agents will want to catch-up fast, as Book 3 already landed earlier this year!
The assassin had swung silently along the outside of the building and smashed through the high-rise office window. The bullet had pierced the glass and he’d followed through and landed perfectly on two feet. After three rapid steps into the room, he stood with his back to the office door. The crashing sound of the glass drowned out every other noise in the room.
